PHILANTHROPY

Nationally, Chi Omega supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a philanthropy that all Chi Omega chapters share. The Make-A-Wish foundation grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions, allowing magic to happen in the lives of these children and their families. Through the experiences granted by Make-A-Wish, our aim is to make a difference and enhance the lives of children and families as they fight these illnesses together.

Chi Omega’s greatest source of fundraising is through our annual  “Wings for Wishes” bracket-style wing eating competition in the Spring and our annual "Swishes for Wishes" basketball tournament in the Fall. Wish Week is another event where we hold many fundraising activities that include, Pie-O a Chi-O, grilled cheese stands, silent auctions, percentage nights, t-shirt sales, and many others. In-chapter fundraisers, such as Chi O Yard Sale, is one of the many other ways we raise money for Make-A-Wish.

For the 2018-2019 school year, the Psi Kappa chapter raised over $25,000. Due to Covid-19, we were not able to hold our annual "Wings for Wishes" wing eating contest, which is where most of our fundraising comes from each year. Even through Covid-19, our chapter raised $34,737 for Spring 2021, which shows how dedicated our sisters are to raising money for Make-A-Wish. The monetary donations that we are able to collect go towards granting some of life’s most important wishes.

Whether helping our national philanthropy (Make-A-Wish Foundation), the Clemson University community, or the local community, Chi Omegas make a difference. Each year, we commit to both fundraising and volunteering to help make a difference in the lives of others. In addition to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Chi Omegas at Clemson participate in other University events such as Dance Marathon, Clemson LIFE, Habitat for Humanity, and many more.

A LETTER FROM OUR PHILANTHROPY CHAIR

Hello! My name is Tatum Cullen and I have the pleasure of serving as Psi Kappa’s Philanthropy Chair this year. In all of our activities, Chi Omega strives to make a difference in the lives we touch both on and off campus all year round. Our partnership with Make-A-Wish is so special to our chapter, not only because of the impact we are able to make, but also because of the personal connection many of our sisters have with this organization or have been able to form over the years. Serving as Philanthropy Chair has truly brought to light how much of a difference our chapter can make through each and every philanthropy event we have. This chapter has rallied together to support an organization with astounding impacts on the lives of children across the state; I have never been more proud to be a Chi Omega than after watching what this chapter accomplished this past semester! This position has given me the opportunity to see just how dedicated, caring, and generous our sisters are through all of their endeavors and I hope that you too are able to see that love in this chapter. There is no greater feeling than helping grant a wish for a child faced with a critical illness and seeing the hope that it brings them and their family!

Yours truly,
Tatum Cullen

Philanthropy Chair
